Established in 2007, Rate Detective is a rate comparison website which provides free information to consumers about home loans, credit cards, personal loans and personal insurance.

Rate Detective is run by a team of experienced financial industry and IT professionals, led by director David Kaplan. We have plans to introduce more products to our comparison site including broadband and mobile phone plans in 2009.

In addition to our comprehensive database, we publish original stories on personal financial topics to enable consumers to remain informed no matter what their financial status is. How does it work?

We source our data from a panel of financial institutions and insurers. Unlike other comparison sites, no personally identifiable information is required for you to compare products. Simply enter your requirements into one of our simple web forms and Rate Detective will compare rates for you instantly. If you want to continue and apply for a product, you can then fill in your details and we will contact you to help with your purchase.

How much does it cost?

We don’t charge you a thing, and unlike some other comparison sites, we do not charge institutions to be included on our site. They only pay us when a sale is completed via our website.

How does Rate Detective make money?

Institutions pay us a fee for each sale that originates from our site. You will pay the same price whether you apply through Rate Detective or direct to the provider. In fact, in some cases we offer better deals than you could get by applying directly. Rate Detective does not charge a fee for any service we provide, we are remunerated by the institutions by way of commission for any sales that are made. If you were referred to us by another website, we may pay them a commission upon sale. Once again, Rate Detective does not charge a fee for the service.

When you enquire through a web form or on the telephone, Rate Detective works to find you a consultant who is experienced in the product you are after. If you are after a home loan, we can find you an experienced finance consultant, and if you are after life insurance we can find you a fully licensed insurance consultant.
