Insecure Employment is a Serious Concern for Homebuyers

A recent survey has found that housing costs are the biggest concern for workers in insecure employment.

According to the latest ACTU report both men and women are concerned about housing stress over the next twelve months. Both men and women's biggest concern is the repayments of home loans and rent expenses.

Sarah Toohey spokesperson for the Australians for affordable Housing stated that insecure work made it harder for people to purchase their own home and irregular working hours meant that people were concerned that they would not be able to pay their rent. By not having regular hours, workers were unsure of their earnings.

It appears that Australian's are paying more than they can afford for housing.

The report also revealed that rents in Australia have risen at twice the rate of inflation.
