Switching providers - Will my lights go out or my gas stop?

The answer to the above questions is NO.

When you switch to a new electricity or gas supply company nothing will change. The way that the power stations or windmills operate, or the way that you receive electricity or gas to your home or office via the pipes that generates the power, wires and poles will remain the same. The supply of electricity or gas to your home, or business will carry on as normal, and there will be no interruptions to how you will be able to use electricity or gas.

All that changes is that a different electricity provider (one that you have selected) is now buying your electricity or gas from the national electricity or gas on your behalf, and making sure that you are supplied the electricity or gas you need for your household or business.

Please remember - if you are moving to another home - to let us know. If you are using the Rate Detective electricity provider or gas supplier connection for your home or business, please be sure to enter these details when asked to do so. Switching normally takes a few weeks at least, but move-in connections can be arranged so long as you give us at least 2 working days notice.
