Income Protection Insurance for Riggers

Being a rigger requires a lot of hard work. Depending on where you're working, you might be required to put together pieces of equipment, repair them, and even install cables. It involves a lot of responsibility too. Do a poor job on site and you could put everyone's life at risk.

While you ensure everyone's safety at work, it's also important that you ensure that of your family's future. You're probably doing that by saving up money for whatever expenses that might come up, your children's education, or even for your annual vacations. However, would you have enough funds if you're suddenly unable to work because of an illness or injury?

The thing is that when you can't work, you might create a financial void in your household. That means you might have to dip into your savings to have money for your daily expenses, and probably even for your medical needs. But you don't have to do that. With income protection insurance, you will receive up to 75% of your salary on a monthly basis. This will then help you with your expenses for your recovery and other financial needs.

Before you take out income protection insurance, let us help you out with a number of things you have to know. Let's start with...

  1. Waiting period. Your insurer won't provide you with benefits from the first day you make an insurance claim. Rather, there's a waiting period of 14 days up to several years before you receive benefits.
  2. Benefit period. As much as you would like to receive benefits for the rest of our life, income protection insurance benefits are limited. It generally lasts up to 2 years, although you could apply for 5 years or more depending on your preferences and budget.
  3. Premiums. This is the amount of money you regularly pay the insurance company for your policy. Its price depends on a number of factors. If you have a short waiting period, for example, the premiums will be higher. The same thing goes if you have a long benefit period.
